Twenty-eight years ago, Rick Shadyac and David Black partnered with Steve Buckhantz to start a celebrity golf tournament to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The inaugural April 1995 event that raised $40,000 may seem like yesterday, but this event has flourished over the last two-and-a-half decades and has now raised nearly $6 million for the kids of St. Jude.
The St. Jude Open is recognized as one of the premier and longest running golf tournaments in the Washington, D.C. area. We invite you to join us and be a part of something bigger than ourselves, because we won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
We continue to dedicate this tournament to the memory of Richard C. Shadyac, Sr. Mr. Shadyac worked tirelessly for the kids of St. Jude for over 40 years. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and helped St. Jude become an internationally recognized institution.
